Hope I'm using the right section of this forum for my question. My guest is trying to write a review on Airbnb but it is not happening for her. Anyone got any clues on what she can do? Thanks

Hi -- there are a number of problems on the system, or have been, with guests and hosts not getting review prompts. SEarch this forum under "reviews" or in the reviews boards and you may find the thread on this -- about 15 threads have been posted about this on the Community Center. Just tell the guest to wait --- eventually the prompt will show up. They are sometimes coming 2-3 days late.
It's fine to post a question here if you don't know where to post it....

What is with rabbits lately? Some might remember that I had a group of young men from Toronto ask me if they could bring their rabbit with them, as it wouldn't be any trouble. Bring a rabbit to New York? That is a very weird request.
Well, here's a request that I had from a new site where I have listed for long term stays:
"My client and his partner are interested in renting your property. They both work for Cirque de Soleil and have a licensed service animal. It's 1.5 pound bunny. They would stay from September to the first of December and are willing to pay a deposit / cleaning fee. Are you open to it?"
I asked to see the rabbit's papers first, just to be a smart ass. They have not responded.

A couple of circus workers have a bunny as a service animal??? Ha ha ! Good response you gave them.
hmmmm...SErvices rabbits can perform.....? Taking care of slighly old vegetables...or peels...you won't need a garbage disposer...

Helping you get out of a hole in the ground?

Other than these kinds of things, hmmm, no, rabbits can't help you cross the street if you are blind, or go on a walk in your neighborhood. I'd say no, and tell them I never saw a 1.5 pound rabbit helping a blind person cross the street.

By the way, I have a pet bunny myself...I would guess she is around 1.5 or 2 lbs...and though I love her, she is destructive as all get-out. The females are more destructive inside a house than males, as they love to dig. Indoors, this means shredding paper, chewing books, tearing apart fabrics, as well as peeing on things at times to mark her territory. If she found an electrical cord she'd love to bite it and could electrocute herself in doing so. This means that though I let her out of her cage at times to play, she can only be let out into a playpen, or when strictly supervised and in a "protected" area, or taken outdoors to play.
I provide toys for her --- I give her cardboard boxes to rip apart, newspapers to shred, fabrics (rags) to tear. I also buy pet toys that hang in her cage that she can gradually pull apart. She has great fun with these. But she would still wreck my house if I let her roam free. THis is the not-so-well-known side of rabbits which causes so many of the cute things to be returned to the store after Easter bunnies are brought home for kids at Easter time.

Milu, be careful with the rabbit. Apart from shredding or chewing on furniture, if someone is allergic, it's much worse than being with a cat. I had some clients with rabbits and after 1 hour I was looking like Quasimodo's sister, to cite my allergy doctor. Eyes nearly swollen shut, face red and sneezing like hell. I can stroke cats and guinea pigs, even i I get some reaction, but a bunny need only to be in the same apartment without touching me to tie me a strong attack. - Even if they are cute.

I have the 2 student interns from the same college who signed off they read the rules. I broke my rule and let them use kitchen and laundry. Last night the young man ask me if he can have a guest spend the night stating he knows I have a house rule against it. I say no, he asks how much. No more sliding. We're at the end of playing that game. I am wondering if I gonna have to get mean with him, he gets the girl talking up for him whenever I have to check them on something like living on lights and appliances. I know Deborah has given plenty of insight on types of guest who love to push the envelope. I have 2 now.

Wonder how they agree to stay with you with no access to kitchen and laundry. Are they for a long term? Mine stay a minimum of 3 months (usually in the Summer). The guy does not cook, take-outs every day and laundry once a week. The other intern a young girl cooks sporadically, leaves everything super clean (polished my new glasstop). They know the rules about NOBODY staying at the house. No overnight guests. When I remind them of something (i.e. locking doors) I smile so much, while being firm in my words, that my face hurts :-) That way my message is well received.

Let us know how it goes with those guests, Linda! Will you have to get mean or will it get better?

Well, yesterday I came home to a package from Amazon for the girl. I left it on the staircase banister. Didn't see them in the evening yesterday or today. Came in short time ago and I am already in bed. In my house rules and reinforced when she wanted to ship car to my house. There is a kitchenette upstairs with microwave, large toaster oven, rice cooker, 2 burner hot plate and coffee maker. I told them if cooking something like spaghetti to come down and use mine. And, laundry mat is nearby and they can easily get there in her car. My washer and dryer is old and don't want to share it. I thonk I am on the outs with them because twice I spoke to the boy and he ignored me. Im learning all the while. I hope i will able to remain civil to the end. Nick I will let you know if I blow.

LInda, do you allow guests to get packages at your house? Was that Amazon delivery okay, or were you upset and ready to stamp it "return to sender: addressee unknown"

Yes, it in my house rules that guest are NOT to have anything delivered to the house. During the booking process I mention this to her. Then a few days before she arrived she sent me a text stating she was shipping her car to my house. I sent her back a text that nothing is to be delivered to my house and not even her car. Then a couple of days later she send another text stating her mother would like to come for 2 days and wants to alter date to one day earlier. I okay her mom and day earlier arrival and ask about the car. She says they will have a friend accept the car else where. On their arrival she says they met truck driver at Walmart to pickup themselves so when they arrival at my home they had the car. I would have been more angry had I received the package, but my husband brought it in thinking it was something from our kids. He didn't even read and just said you have a package from one of the girls. Yeah, a girl alright, my live in. I am learning 3 months is a long time and maybe it's something she really needed. They are out of the house all day and they are quite at night so I probably need to relax and appreciate that. The other thing is he is not a neat person, the dorm type. At least so far it's not stinky. All my other guest have really kept the place pretty spotless. But past had fight odors I had guest learn behind. I need the moneyso i do what i gotta do. For now, I looking forward to my next guest in August and September.

DEBORAH, By the way, I learned so much from you about what to do and not to do, establishing rules, I practically clipped your house rules when we had the old new host forum and top on the list was no mail. So, starting out before I had any guest at all booked i had quite a few house rules in place. Then as I had experiences with guests I added more, like here in Texas with the new gun law, I added NO WEAPONS, and next, I am gonna add take out your garbage.
