Oh Fleur, I was just in Barcelona a month ago! If you like steak and Foie Gras, go to Vaso Del Oro! Also found a great seafood place that has great atmosphere, called Jai Ca.

Hi Bonjour Nic and Rach!
Just like u I don't find this new forum easy to handle, but I use only 2 neurons and only work with 3% of my Mac so adding both it's only 5%... But, Helga is working at it. She will be sick soon! We both send u our best and warm hugs.

Bonjour from France! Enjoying the amazing food. Pretty shocked at all the security but I guess it is necessary and reassuring.

Hi everyone,
I have to admit that I am brand new to this forum and am finding it confusing. I can't see where to post. But my question is for UK people mainly: where else, in addition to Airbnb do you advertise your property?
I have been hosting since July 2015. I am between two towns and I don't seem to flag up well in Airbnb listings, so I would like to broaden my reach. Having said that, I do like being part of Airbnb very much and have had good experiences with the guests I have had so far.
Any ideas anyone?
thank you,
Bridget

Hi Bridget As I mentioned in the other place you asked about how to post --- you can start a post or a "thread" as it's called on forums, by clicking on the black button "create thread" which is on the right side of the screen, usually towards upper middle of the page. THis forum (which is structured very similarly to thousands of online forums on many subjects) has numerous BOARDS, many of which have SUB-BOARDS, so that posts can be organized by topic in a way that makes it easier to find all the posts on a certain topic. You can also post on this board.
I dont' know if we have many UK people who are regularly posting on here, but in terms of where else to list one's property, there is a board below on this forum, this one:
globalhosting.freeforums.net/board/56/vrbo-homeaway-craigslist-str-platforms
WHich has a thread listing the many places you can list your property.
Namely this one:
globalhosting.freeforums.net/thread/712/short-term-rental-vacation-platforms
Let us know if you need any other help!!

Hello! It's Becky (Rebecca) here from Edinburgh. Finally got round to signing up. Look forward to keeping in touch, hopefully, with hosts from the soon-to-be deleted Groups.

Hi Rebecca, nice to see you here! Yes, it will be interesting to see what happens when the old Airbnb groups (Groups 1.0) close down. Raymond and Elaine started this thread where they have a good point -- that the new Airbnb groups (Groups 2.0) so far doesnt' seem much like community. We will see how Groups 2.0 evolves in time but it does have its challenges.

Hi Bridget, What kind of listing do you have? If it's self-contained place there are many sites on which to advertise (Wimdu seems popular). If you're a live-in host, HomeStay is an option. I'm not currently listed on HomeStay but thinking about it.

Thanks Deborah! I'm feeling my way around here.... it's not so easy, got to be honest When I want to quote somebody's post it takes me somewhere else? I guess it just takes some getting used to.

It may be a bit confusing --- but I hope that it's not too hard --- I think you will eventually get the hang of some of the basics of posting. When you quote someones' post (click on "quote) it takes you to a reply/create post form, as you are then replying and creating a post, with the quote appearing inside the post you are creating. You can edit the quote portion, so that you don't end up quoting their whole post, but only part of it, by removing part of the text that's inside the quote box.
And if you want to add your comments, you then write your message below the quote box. Then you click on the green "create post" at the lower right corner to post it. You can always edit any post you make, by clicking on the "edit" button in your own posts.

Hey friends! This week has been a bit crazy in our town, and it's forced me to take stock of my business, my goals and my long term plans. Airbnb has given me a chance to reinvent myself personally and financially, and now I have to think about what the next year will look like. You know what I'm thinking? I may go into the *real* Bed and Breakfast business. I've discovered that I love dealing with guests (except 10%) of them, I'm a darn good housekeeper and I have gotten pretty good at the business end of things. I can now speak confidently about things that used to make me dizzy like profit/loss statements, I've become adept at forecasting revenue and managing a budget is a breeze. Four or five years ago I would have felt ready to take on a traditional B&B but I wouldn't really be ready. Now? Maybe! So that's the goal that my husband and I are playing with. Going to traditional rentals with one of our properties and keeping a small basement studio near the city where we can have as a backup for us, selling another property and maybe moving to a small town where we can set up a place. I've always dreamed of having a couple of chickens and a goat, and maybe this is all part of that dream! I'd love a place where I can chill out, keep a few animals and offer farm fresh ingredients (goat milk yogurt!!) as part of our gig. Anyhow, this whole post is part of just talking to my peers over a slice of pizza Who's got plans they are considering for this upcoming year?

Interesting plans, Superhostnyc!! I like it. I like any plans that involve chickens and goats
And to boot it sounds very refreshing, to be in a small town. Do you have any ideas where that would be? In New England somewhere? Or somewhere else? I'd live on a small ranch in a rural area in a minute if I could afford it. (I'd keep my urban house too, though -- would want to be able to live part time in the city) With goats, chickens and more -- I think some turkeys, some pheasants, ducks, and quail too. I love domestic fowl. I think a nice small ranch setting would make a great B&B, in a place that had the market for it -- a vacation area, or near public lands, or on a popular route. You'd be in an interesting position, then, doing a traditional B&B and then competing against other people's AIrbnb's!! One thing that I think is really nice about doing either a B&B or an Airbnb out in a rural area, is it keeps you from getting too lonely because you keep having visitors/guests.
Goat milk yogurt, yea!! And you could also offer fresh chicken eggs to guests -- (which I do, even though I'm living in the city) --- and maybe you'd be growing organic vegetables too. If you have the right environment, you could offer cross country skiiing routes in winter and nearby hiking in summer.
My plans for this coming year? I want more time to do my art and writing. I worked too much this past year. So this coming spring, I will be taking a one month vacation to visit family, travel, and do more art and writing.
