Pets -- should I allow them or not?

I take the same approach as aor. I don't allow guests to bring pets. I have chickens and quail at my house, and a rabbit, so there are animals here if guests want to schmooze with the furry or feathered set.

I want to keep my home dander-free so that those who are allergic, are able to stay here. I also feel it is difficult enough to have all guests follow the rules and behave well, even after they say they read and understand the house rules some still do not do so. Guests' pets would be far, far, far more difficult for me to control the behavior of or be confident in the behavior of. I do not want accidents, noises, nuisances, damaged floors, carpets, furniture, etc. I believe that to allow pets would be to favor the convenience and wishes of a very few, over the needs & comfort of many, as well as to introduce too many risks and potential for damage.
