Notes from a host who took part in Airbnb's "listening" session... Eg as mentioned here community.withairbnb.com/t5/COVID-19-Discussions/Updated-March-25th-Extending-our-series-of-global-listening/td-p/1264878These were some of the issues raised by various hosts: - VRBO actually did a MUCH better job negotiating this whole fiasco: they left cancellation/refunds up to hosts/guests to work out...suggested 50-50 split or future travel credit but also INCENTIVIZED hosts to work out win-win (or at least not 100 percent win and 100 percent lose) with a few carrots including elevated search priority in the future, discounted stays in the future, etc. - Some hosts are seeing cancellations (at full reimbursement) and then re-bookings at today's drastically lower rates, at the very same listing. - Some hosts are being threatened with bad reviews from cancelled guests (apparently cancelled guests AND hosts can still leave reviews?? This was news to me) - There was a woman on the call who is a pro and manages 107 listings in a handful of cities...she has already lost $250K and it sounds like they pulled all that money out of her account and she now can't pay her staff. - Some hosts had ALREADY negotiated date changes or partial refunds but then ABB policy kicked in and overrode all of that. The synpsis of the issues raised is supposedly being fed directly to ABB management. We shall see what happens. ABB is in big trouble I think and on the brink of losing MANY hosts (and guests too). They have to do SOMETHING. Like
