I came across this article, "How to Rob an Airbnb", which basically gives step by step instructions on how any enterprising criminal, spy, government agent, nosy neighbor or anti-Airbnb activist, could find out private information about many hosts who have listings on Airbnb.
I suspect some of this information is being used by the "Host Compliance" type companies which sell themselves as having sleuthing skills to help cities enforce STR rules.
We discovered that, with nothing more than publicly-available data, you can figure out the real names and addresses of 40% of houses listed on Airbnb. We’ll show you how anyone could use this method to rob their choice of 1.2 million houses — and other ways this could hurt Airbnb’s bottom line.
