By the way, for hosts who value privacy, laws like those in Santa Monica, Cinncinnati, and San Francisco set a problematic precedent, as they require Airbnb to partner with the local government in running the business. They force Airbnb into becoming an arm of local law enforcement.
Many cities pride themselves on being "sanctuary cities" where they are going to shield people from certain aspects of law enforcement that they deem unjust. But God forbid hosts might want sanctuary from overreaching government rules and regulations! No, in those situations the cities have no problem invading one's privacy and reigning private businesses into doing their law enforcement work.
