Marin County is putting STR rules on hold

Marin county staff said that Host Compliance, a Silicon Valley short-term rental compliance and monitoring consultant, had estimated there were approximately 1,126 short-term rentals available in Marin County. The county has since signed an $80,000 contract with Host Compliance to get up-to-date numbers on short-term rentals in Marin.
Katie Beacock, owner of Seadrift Realty, which manages 50 Stinson Beach homes for vacation rentals, said, “It’s a very good decision to reconsider the ordinance.”
She said requiring homeowners to post a sign with personal information would create a security threat, and “visual pollution.”
“I look forward to more careful consideration,” she said.
It is definitely visual pollution and a security threat to expect hosts to put a sign on their front lawn stating that they do short term rentals. How the board of supervisors would not be aware of the danger of this is concerning. They apparently dont' realize that burglars are targeting vacation rentals.
