The final SEattle STR regulations limit hosts to "two units" (it's not clear if that means two addresses, or 2 rooms located at the same address) and imposes a tax of $14 a night on entire places and $8 a night on rooms. www.geekwire.com/2017/seattle-approves-new-airbnb-regulations-limit-short-term-rentals-2-units-per-host/These taxes I think are excessive. Given that the surplus of listings is driving prices down, rooms may rent for $40-50 a night, in which case the $8 tax could amount to a 20% hotel tax, which is absolutely enormous. I don't know of any city where the hotel tax is that high. Typically the amount of the hotel tax ranges from 6% to 14%, with most around the 10-12% range.
