Yes, I want ALL of your checklists for Guest Reviews.   I just read this private feedback (and I'm glad that it was private): Cleanliness - Dust - guest noted dust on the back half of top of the fridge.   Boy, the guest had to get up on a chair to find that dust so thank goodness he was able to let me know about it!

Btw: some German hosts get to see the detailed guest stars. Switched to German interface, but don't get them. I read that airbnb has a few tests running, we will see which one they implement.

I've also had guests complain about dust behind things. I find that annoying -- it's labor intensive to do a deep cleaning (such that one moves furniture and cleans behind items) of the guest room or the entire house on a regular basis.

I've been getting hammered with complaints by guests to airbnb that I wasn't Ms Congeniality upon arrival.

They send 4 emails stating their flight arrives early, and they will be at the home WAY before the stated check-in time.  I reply this is not possible; I am sole proprietor, have a look at the pictures of the vastness of the house I need every moment to prepare for their arrival.  So they show up early anyway, and I'm not a happy camper.  

I typically get the last laugh, as when they arrive early, my housework ends and they receive no fresh picked flowers in their rooms, or other final touches I was working on as they did not allow me the time to do all I would desire for their stay.  

Don't EVEN complain about geckos (I hate) in the house.  I answer I have no control of such with the doors left open.

Then, where do we cook?  
Well, I've turned the main stove off at the breaker as "Kitchen usage is limited to microwave, etc."
This morning I about died when I had found one of my most expensive pans had been used on the BBQ to cook breakfast.

Read house rules???  Apparently a concept that no longer exists.
Remove shoes?  Say it isn't so.  How dare me to request and consider such.
Everyone knows I have nothing better to do than vacuum every flippin day.
Rinsing used dishes prior to placing them in dishwasher.....NEVER!  
I've even written it in black marking pen inside the dishwasher to remind them.  Never worked since day one.
Guests are to supply their own food.  NOPE.  
Got some old fud just finished a brand new gallon of apple juice using the largest glasses I have and taking it to his room with his microwaved leftovers.
Unfortunately he's a two week stay.  Apple Juice will NOT be replenished during his stay.
Use your own refrigerator?  NOPE.  
They learn that one quick, every morning I remove whatever they've left.
Guests are not to eat in their rooms.  HA-HA.  
I'm sure I'm from another planet with my obsession of providing eating areas inside, outside, and pool side.
SLIDE a screen door and close them completely.  NOPE.  We'll just walk through it, knock it off the track, and leave it leaned up against the glass doors so they aren't usable.
Turn off lights when not in use?  That's an hilarious request.

A guest had taken a beautiful drone picture and circled the Gate Key Pad which I posted with additional explanation stating proper parking is displayed. They still can't find the dang thing, remember the code, or the address because they didn't print out their confirmation as requested.

I'm about burnt out on the inconsiderateness, rudeness, and blatant selfishness displayed by guests as airbnb becomes more popular.

It's pretty flippin hard to maintain a grateful attitude after working 24/7/365, to get treated with such disrespect.
I think the guests are now assuming we hosts do not have a life, and live and breathe to have the pleasure to make their acquaintance. 

I request all guests to inform me of their estimated time of arrival after the stated "anytime after 4 pm."  
I'm lucky if 1% does.

Taxes due upon check-in?  Perhaps some other host can say it isn't so, but I'm tired of getting burnt with them leaving conveniently forgetting, or bringing $100 bill for $11.40 tax.  We'll pay tomorrow.

Other day someone did state their flight arrived at 8 pm, and would expect to arrive between 9-9:30 pm....YEEHAW!!  I made a mad dash to town for yet another update project I had going, after waiting for yet another guest who couldn't respond to the one request I make prior to arrival; hurried home, they arrived at 11 pm stating they were 'So sorry, we got caught in the rain.'

Well guess what?  I was in town, and it did sprinkle long enough for me to use my windshield wipers for a minute and a half, plus I could have gotten some other work done in town if I wasn't in such a hurry to be back in anticipation of their arrival.

A recent guest had inquired at the last minute if I supply towels after a reservation made months in advance.  YES. (and is stated so in the listing)
 
I couldn't make this up....I finished my last load of laundry at midnight, HOPING the next day would be easier in order for me to work out in the yard, or whatever else was planned with the gazillion projects I've got going on.
 
She was the only guest (couple), used TEN towels in one afternoon/morning, AND I was positive the white bedspread had been destroyed being totally covered in dirt.
After pre-treating it twice and bleaching it, I then used 1/2 box of Borax along with all the rest during the third washing which actually came clean the third time; salvaged after spending more in electricity and water than their booking fee.

I have the house rules posted on the fridge with "This is what you agreed to prior to booking" written in black magic marker on top.  I explain this is the tropics, rinse the dishes and close the doors to keep the bugs out.

All wasted breath and time.

I have reduced myself to nothing more than a maid, parking attendant, and maintenance woman with no union benefits and feeling quite disrespected.

That's my vent as I am being forced to stink up another idea of income that brings joy, respect, and pride.

HomeAway says I'm doing great! (I don't like them or their commission rate)
My listings are ranked 3145 out of 3500+.....Happy Days!! I'm out performing 11% or some stupid remark of all other hosts.
I thank the Universe nobody can even find my listings via that site, they think they get the whole 4000 sq ft house for their $85 in the cheap room.

Didn't hear any kitchen clean up happening after the latest early arrivals used tin foil on the BBQ for dinner ("as we Germans do")

Time to rinse dishes and fold another load of laundry.

Oh wait, I've another IB to tend to while I was venting, can't wait to hear what surprise that will bring.
