See the article by conservative author Mytheos Holt about host's price-gouging for the Washington DC Inaugural: thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/technology/313327-airbnb-leaves-trump-supporters-out-in-the-coldExcerpt: It sounds like the author of this article is unfamiliar with pricing by Airbnb hosts -- it's typical for nightly rates to be raised to very high amounts for special events-- a study of host's rates during SuperBowl festivities has consistently revealed this. And the prices the author quotes are not actually that high...I've seen places going for $9000 to $10k a night for Superbowl weekend!

I'd see that differently: the apply Trump's values and adore the same god as he does, Mammon. ;-)

This is just more typical political hypocrisy... when "I" do something, it's right and just, when "they" do the same thing, it's the worst, most awful thing ever.
Hotels practically invented price gouging. One such hotel owner in an earnings call told investors that "too many airbnb listings have hurt earning because they're no longer able to gauge"
This is DC's version of SuperBowl 50. Hosts will demand too high a price and they'll not get a booking. If they do, then the person booking shouldn't complain because they agreed to the price.
I'm going to guess that "The Donald's" very own hotel has higher than normal prices for the event. I Just checked.. the normal 2 night rate is around $650.. but for the weekend of the Inauguration it's $1300 Strange that this tidbit didn't make it into the article referenced...

Yeah, but the Donald will host mostly people seaking his favour and he will give all those revenues to the public treasury, so they don't count ;-)
