Sadly, another California city plans to ban many short term rentals:

Palm Springs moved closer to forbidding short-term vacation rentals in apartment buildings of two or more units following the approval of an ordinance proposing eliminating all such short-term vacation rentals from the city by 2019.

This I find most odd, since palm springs has been a hotbed of STR for YEARS... most of it's economy depends on it.
so this is just strange.

However, most of the hosts I know down there have free standing single unit family style homes with pools.. So maybe it's just the worker bees who live in these apartment style places? I don't know.. this is all very confusing to me.

It seems to me that vacation areas should allow vacation rentals! Just common sense, really.
