Airbnb is soon going to launch the "Host Voice" part of the Airbnb Community Center.
Host Voice is meant to be a tool in the Community Center for hosts to submit ideas for improving Airbnb. It will be opening on the English version of the CC this coming Wednesday.
This is a place where hosts can post their own ideas for how Airbnb can improve, ideas for fixing problems, ideas for making Airbnb better, ideas for really anything in Airbnb. I am really happy to see this feature coming to the CC because I know a great many hosts have felt very frustrated that something was broken in the system or not working, and there wasn't a place they could go to suggest ideas to Airbnb for that. Yes they could vent in the host communities, but hosts very much want to know that Airbnb is listening to what they say. Moreover hosts have had some excellent ideas for Airbnb, and it's important for them to have an avenue to direct those, since simply calling up Customer service isn't really the right approach to share these ideas.
One question I have about the Host Voice is whether it will be viewable by the general public, or only by hosts. In other words is it a private area like Host Circle board on the CC, or public like the other boards. I tend to think it is a public board. So this will mean that not everyone will feel comfortable posting on it, as many have said they prefer not to post on the public boards.
Well, we'll see in a couple days!

I just heard from Wyatt at Airbnb -- the Host Voice will be available for all the public to view.

Deborah, Ashton Kutcher & his wife Mila Kunis named their daughter Wyatt. Maybe that's a good first name for you....

A daughter named Wyatt? I guess it's an in between name then. But....I don't like Wyatt--- it sounds either too much like "Whhhhuuut" or "Where y'at? " or like Wyatt Earp. Neither appeal to me ...I want a name that has some European mythological connection....

Ha-ha CC,
Wyatt Twerp was the little Jerk that opened those hot dogs for breakfast.
I returned home from my swim today to find Mama Jerk had returned with him and his two buddies for a swim in the pool.
Another guest must have showed Mamma Jerk how to rinse and place her dirty dishes in the dishwasher this morning. Made my morning return more pleasant after I went and turned everyone's room fans and lights off while rolling my eyes that the 'no unregistered guests are permitted on the premises.'
First thing out of Mamma Jerks mouth upon arrival and entering the house, she stated she had read the house rules, blah blah, blah....I call BS
No.....I don't have stupid tattooed on my forehead, nor is this chick giving me a heartbeats worth of breaks with all her 'special requests' that are stated in the house rules as NO.
I'm over this. I know my listing, they know the listing; I usually state 'I do not enter your rooms unless requested." That's after the fact they've agreed to turn lights and fans off when not enjoying the use of such when they booked.
I'm paying the electric bill, they can just deal with it.
Newest plan of attack, when they've returned from wherever, I inform them "I'm sorry, but I seen the lights on, fan on, or today's addition, could hear the window slats banging, so I turned them all off/ opened them, whatever."
Today I actually got a promise they won't forget again.
I won't be holding my breath.
News Flash: Title Wave to hit Japan by morning; Nellie did go swimming in another bay than I did.
Her report, "the water was murky close to shore". That's a hoot and a half, I enjoyed a "bucking bronco" swim at a sandy beach and couldn't find one space of 'murk'. We were surprised with all the white caps and currents. The bay she went to has no sand. Total coral garden, nothing to 'murk' up the water.
I liked Shaun's comment. She just likes the nice guests.

It's just an awful name for a little girl! But better than Apple, Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter's name, or James, Blake Lively's daughter's name. Or Hazel, Julia Roberts' daughter's name, or Olive, Drew Barrymore's daughter's name, or Sparrow, Nicole Richie's son's name! Have you EVER heard of a girl named James?? Splainin to do to everyone she ever meets! Maybe they call her Jamey.

Jamie is a nice name...
I have a neighbor whose daughters have names of herbal teas. They both sound like something to eat or drink....
I have a brother (not so smart) and a sister in law (not so kind) who named their two daughters two names that start with the same three letters, end with the same two letters, and have 6 letters in all. IN other words there is only one letter of difference between the two names...and if you are calling from another room or across the yard...or even in the same room when there is a TV on or music playing....you cannot easily tell the difference. (It's something very much like Begonia and Betonia....but those aren't the names....) It was a silly thing to give rise to a couple of echos of each other. Far better the two have distinct names and distinct personalities.
Actually, though I might play around with having friends call me something different... I'm not likely to legally change my name. The main reason I wouldn't do it is because I dont' trust the government not to mess up. For instance, I own a house -- what if I changed my name, and then someone tried to say I didn't really own my house, because the name on the Grant Deed is no longer my legal name? Or...I have a bank account, but then change my name...and the bank refuses to recognize it's my bank account?
Or other similar permutations.
There are people who have the same name as someone else -- who can't for the life of them get the other person's bad credit history from shutting down their own credit card. Or such like.
I have long been aghast at the number of people who can't do their job -- and so I am very unlikely to start throwing monkey wrenches into a system of incompetent people who can barely cope as it is. I'll keep my fun names to myself and my friends I think! IT's sufficient to play that way.

Haha. "Not so smart" and "not so kind". I have the same relatives! Only the brother is the not kind one.
the whole changing the name thing with the banks was just a fee extra hiccups for me, but I only do business with banks that are customer centered (after some horrific experiences). They assign you a person who remembers you and helps you out, so when I changed my name, I didnt even have to show up, just call and talk and drop the judge's order in the mail.
but a mortgage and deed, that might be truly frightening to try to change, unless, sigh, it was the default of merely a woman taking the husband's last name.

My deal is a constant battle, I will admit. A lot of clerks hear name change and think "you are now other than yourself." But I have not changed into a different person....

By the way, as a Launch Pad Host I have been given a sneak preview into the Host Voice and I can tell you that so far these ideas have been presented:
(1) Special offer cleaning fees (2) Require proper profile of guests, (3) Clarify guest booking numbers, (3) Booking module (4) Additional charges line item (5) Page navigation in discussions (6) Bring back keyword search. (7) Extra person cleaning fees.
Everyone will be able to see this board very soon, and potentially to comment on the threads.

personally, I think James is a very cool and sexy name for a female. Many adaptations for it available.

The hard part for me is computer forms, government and bank websites, and apple ID. Even though all my documents are updated, I will need to spend a lot More time on the phone convincing people that since they gave me a passport and social security card with Inanna, that yes, they really do have to let Inanna use the website to pay her taxes.

I had to tell this one person that it didn't matter whether they liked my name change or not; it was court ordered.
