Is B&B only for women a good idea?
Hello. I have recently joined Airbnb and I am new in hosting. I am opening an exclusive B&B For women travellers. Wanted to have a feedback from you all as fellow hosts. Is this a good idea? Any other suggestion would be welcomed.

I know there are people here who only host women travelers...I think more for a safety/security reason...but it could be a good niche to fill!

Great idea for women ... but not for men - that only means my wife can sleep and stay in your place and I will set up a tent in the street.

I think it sounds like a great idea for women traveling alone. Is it legal, though? There are laws against in equal housing etc. I don't know that it applies here?

it's totally legal in your own home...you can be as choosy as you like

It could be totally legal in India, and sounds like a great idea, but there are certain rules that apply even in the home in which one lives (renting out more than 5 units comes to mind).

As long as there are no zoning from your town or city that prohibit you from hosting.

I think you'll be fine as long as the language of your listing is very inviting to women but does not expressly exclude men.
What amenities would you be offering to woo the women?

I have been careful in describing. Only in the house rules i have clearly stated that I can't allow male friends. But you have pointed out a very important point. I shall look carefully into the language. Thanks Sheryl

I think a forum for discussion is reasonable. One way to check its need is to set it up and the rest will occur naturally.

Actually, while you can choose what guests you want, I believe that there is a legal prohibition against expressly excluding any protected class of people. Thus, my suggestion against doing so.

In the US there are laws against exclusion because of race, sex, religion or sexual proclivity.

Good Idea. Make it "all for women": include products flr her, magazines, spa & retreat services and shopping guides

(Actually in the US it is legal for someone who is a renting rooms in which they live, to stipulate that they rent to one gender only. See the information on Craiglist which covers this)
