Drop in bookings
Has anyone experienced a significant drop in bookings? There is a post in one of the other groups about it, and my bookings have dried up. Never happened before. It doesn't seem to be anything related to my booking given that it happens to others as well. Any suggestions, ideas?

I looked at that thread in the London group - intriguing. I have to say that yes, bookings for December are down on last year. I find that the Airbnb average of guests booking 6 weeks in advance is pretty consistent with what I get. But they haven't dried up altogether. Scary thought. I haven't read any particularly bad press about Airbnb recently. I don't know. It's a bit worrying though.

I don't know whether to trust the statistics of cklicks on my listing or not. Looking at them they have dropped to 1/3rd of their "normal" Level which I consider as a Tribute to low season. Except for one wild day lately I received 3 inquiries "only" in the last 6 weeks. (But luckily they all turned into bookings). I have learned that they come in waves and there is not much I can do about It unless I lower my price.

We are upside down in australia and are entering our busier months now it seems. I'm with salvia, I seem to get bookings in groups of three which makes me think my listing is rotating through the rankings.

Could it be that supply has increased with a lot of new listings in your area?

I don't know. What I want totry to find out whether it is something that is happening elsewhere as well, in London or in a specific area, given that quite a few in the London group seem to find the same problem. There are quite a few Airbnbs in my area, haven;'t checked whether any new ones have started, I did change my listing and increased the price but recently lowered it again.

I'd have a look to check there aren't a number of new ones with low prices. Your place looks lovely! Perth in west australia is not a fair comparison for anywhere else given how expensive our hotels are at the moment. I'll let others help with comparable northern hemisphere spots. Hope it gets busier for you!

Listings are down for me. They is definitely a seasonal difference here, and I'm going into the slow months, but it does seem dramatically different. I have no bookings at all after next weekend, and I've been consistently booked over 15 nights/month.

I agree with what others have said. It's a combination of being the slow season (in the northern hemisphere at least) and a LOT of new hosts. The number of hosts in my city has just about doubled in the past year, so it's pretty much a given that bookings are down. I have only two upcoming bookings: next weekend for 2 days and then nothing until December 28. I am going to block off a week at the end of November and take the time to repaint the guest room walls and get a new duvet cover.
