I called Airbnb because I never made a request and they said it was suppose to be sent to a gentleman who inquired this morning. The CS said, but he declined. Well hello he told me because it was to much hassle trying to get verified. Well if I (me) wouldn't have got this the gentleman probably would've booked.
Also my calendar is blocked for tomorrow and Saturday til 7 pm even though he declined. I told her it as big weekend out here and I don't want to lose a guest over it. She said well you will have to wait

I think it's best being that I don't want a non verified person who does not have a pic or anything

Agree verified might be better than not, however if your expectation is that it checks the identity of the member, please note that it does not - it simply verifies that an ID was successfully uploaded (or video made). the ID may not be the one of the person arriving. It probably is in most cases, though.
I was just curious if Airbnb had made that requirement of the guest that ended up blocking your calendar.

so now since my calendar is still saying blocked, it shows pending verification. I have called CS twice today, and they say, ok we will call him and walk him through the cancellation process. That wa sat 11:00am est, call back at 4:00pm, the CS asked the original girl who I spoke with earlier if she was taking care of it, and she said she had just got back from lunch and was going to call him then. Wow, airbnb needs to get better CSA'S, or when something like this happens, able's us as hosts to unblock it ourselves..

Unfortunately, the inefficiency of the verification process is a huge problem for Airbnb, and it's frightening to estimate how many potential guests are being lost to other platforms because of it. Not long ago, I received a very good same day reservation request that I'd have been crazy to turn down. As this was for our own home, and my usual option for a place to stay was unavailable due to my friend having family visiting, I decided to just book myself a room in another Airbnb close by. What a nightmare that turned out to be! Despite already having over 100 positive reviews already - what more verification does one need?? - AND my prospective host NOT requiring verification - Airbnb insisted I subject myself to the verification process anyway. So as well as trying to do a lightning fast turnaround of my property, I also had to spend a ludicrous amount of time attempting to have my ID accepted by the system. Time and again, it was rejected. Utterly infuriating, frustrating and time consuming - had I been a normal guest without the urgency, I would, without doubt, have just bailed out and used a different website instead, never to return to Airbnb. In the end, the host and I exchanged phone numbers through the normal Airbnb messaging channels, just spelling out the numbers rather than using digits, and I paid him cash for the booking. My verification was finally accepted several days later, with the very same upload that I'd been using from the first attempt. (Only reason I persevered with it was because the system now decided to block me completely until verification was complete. Total madness.
