Strange sudden turn

I have been hosting happily for a little over a year and read this forum often. I read the posts about people asking for discounts, or people trying to scam hosts, but this has never happened to me. Suddenly, in the past day, I have had a barage of three different people contacting me, asking for discounts and my number. to discuss the listing before they book. It makes me wonder if they're all working together or something. I have politely answered and requested verification and refused to give any information, but it does concern me. Is anyone seeing more of this?

There have also been periods in the forums in which several different fake profiles were being used to solicit private contact details from hosts, in a barrage of message posts. Just like in your case, it could have been a coordinated group of people, or all one person, or a coincidence. But at any rate, you did the right thing. Please flag each of those messages and profiles too.

I haven't seen it myself...but it does seem to be happening a lot to various hosts. It does sound like scammers at work.

I have a side question to this topic: how does one "flag" a request? I can't seem to find a means to do this on the mobile app. I received such a request the other day, but couldn't flag it because I could not figure out how:-/

Rebecca -- you can't flag a reservation request per se, but you can flag individual messages from a guest. I dont' know if you can do it on the mobile app but you can do it on PC. Go to the message thread, and you will see a small flag on the upper right corner of the message. Just click on that. The app doesn't allow us to do everything -- for some things we need to use the PC so in general if you don't find something on the app just look on the PC version.

Thanks Deborah! When I get back to solid ground I will check it out. Was on the fence anyways, and just wondering how it worked!
