Hacked
Four months in to hosting, and we got hacked. Hacker changed our location, posted all new pictures, and screwed up everything. I contacted airbnb support immediately. Hopefully, they can restore the listing as it was before the hack, so I don't have to redo the entire thing.

Nope. We also changed the password immediately, as well.

Ohhhh. I am so sorry. I never even heard of that! What a weird, mean thing for someone to do. And to what end? I, too, hope that all is restored swiftly!

Horrible! Please let us know if you find out how this happened. The thinking is that it can happen if you click on a link that a hacker sends, such as by sending you something via email through the group -- and then entering your email and password there where the hacker can read it. The only other way I can imagine you could be hacked is if the hacker breaks into the Airbnb website itself, which is a scary thought...

How did you realize you were hacked?

I realized that I was hacked when I logged in, like I do many times throughout the day. I use a bookmark which lands me on my listings page. Right away, I could see the pictures and descriptions were all wrong. As I looked around in my settings, I saw that some of our notifications settings were changed, such as the emails for when changes are made to listings. If I had not logged in, I would not have seen anything.

OMGoodness!!! The things people do... Isn't it a secure site? Well I hope AIRBNB finds a way to prevent this from happening again, because it can cause a lot of problems for the host and AIRBNB...

I just finished redoing my listings. I had airbnb verified photos before all this. At least I saved copies of the images. They are lower resolution, but they aren't horrible. I am back up and running again. I haven't heard back from airbnb support since I made the call around 9 a.m. It's after midnight now. Not sure why there hasn't been any communication since then. It should have been an easy fix on their end to restore, I would think. I don't know exactly how/when they do backups.

You might try getting in contact with the photographer to see if he could resend them. If he does, they should show up in your listing.

I was hacked on another site. Change your email password as well as your airbnb password. I'm actually thinking of making a brand new email to associate with the other site account. It's not limited to just airbnb, the phishing scams are happening across all the platforms
