Guest stayed an extra day
I recently had a guest who stayed for an extra day without changing his booking to accommodate that and pay for it. Have written to him to make arrangements with airbnb for payment but he hasn't responded. How do I get him to pay?

Do you have his email address? If so, send him a PayPal request (don't forget to add 4% to cover the costs for that).

You can use the resolution tool but you gotta call airbnb too to help. Other hosts had similar incidents like this happen, sent the guest the alteration, which was completely ignored, then airbnb did nothing to get it paid for. Such a bummer, even when the host tried and tried to contact the guest.

Why didn't you ask the person to pay you then and there..?

We had the same happen to us ( a boss booked and paid for his employees, but only paid for one night not two) He said the guests would sort it out on arrival but they didn't. Neither on departure! In the end I went through Airbnb ( they have a link somewhere) and he paid immediately. They also left really good feedback for us, so we were glad we hadn't left negative for them. I'd try Airnbnb, it gives you more authority ( well it did in our case)

You may want to re think how your property is managed....the best way to avoid this situation is not to let it happen! When the guest is expected to leave, right then & there, ask them for the additional day rate and/or contact airbnb to make the necessary changes if you want to do everything through the airbnb system...I don't like to work outside the system, but sometimes at the last minute---to be SURE--you might have to take cash on the spot rather than rely on their assurances that they will "pay you on Tuesday for a hamburger today..."

Pamala. If the guest is still there either go ask for a cash payment for the extra day or go to them with ur laptop and have them book online. If both options fail contact airbnb ASAP and file a claim against the (phone number hidden) insurance policy. This is why I require s deposit and

Valid ID, rental application, photo of drivers license and SSN # with a short term lease. Some people are just tacky. If you call the police they will probably say its a civil issue and you must ho yo court. But if they are only there a couple days have them thrown out for trespassing. .
