Susan shared on Charlottesville hosts in Dec 2014 www.airbnb.com/groups/content/content-100488Just out of curiosity, have others seen a big drop off in bookings now that winter has arrived? 4 comments Follow Like Charlotte Charlottea year ago Every year! I hear that some folks actually do keep some activity humming along in the winter but I think they are few and far between:) This will be my 4th or 5th winter and I basically shut down rentals in the winter as a result of low demand. And I don't really mind having my house back to myself! Like 2 likes J.R. J.R.a year ago Only one booking for Jan so far. Would it be worth it to Have a Winter Special with a lower price? Like 1 like Emily Emilya year ago haha yup. We ended up having one weekend in december and two booked for jan so far. I did drop my rates a little. It is sort of a nice break, I had forgotten what living at home is like! (she said, while on a two week trip away from home) Like 1 like Kathy & Roy Kathy & Roya year ago Our bookings came to a sudden, screeeeeching halt the first week of November. We did opt to reduce our weekly and monthly rates for January - March, just to see what might happen, and got a booking for 90 days. (!) I don't know that we would have discounted the nightly rate, because it's already pretty low. But for a week or a month at a time? sure.
