SEe the article: www.philly.com/philly/living/travel/20160515_Travel_Troubleshooter__Airbnb_refund_for_wrong_dates_.htmlQuestion: I recently booked a vacation rental in Monte Carlo with Airbnb. The place we booked had a strict no-change policy. About three days later, I realized I had made an error in my dates. I contacted the host through Airbnb and asked if I could change the dates. We were still going to stay the same number of days but just needed to shift the arrival and departure within a 10day time frame. The host said we could do it. I have it in writing. I just needed to fill out a formal change request through Airbnb I did as she had asked. A week passed, and she did not accept the request. We contacted her and she told us she could no longer accept our request because she had a new booking, and that we had to honor our original dates.

It's tricky: the host confirmed she could move the dates, did not send the alteration herself and forgot to confim his when he sent it. And she had accepted a new booking till he finally realised that he had no confirmation.
She should have given a time frame, when her offer will be no longer valid. Forgetting that, after her confirmation, he had a valid, unlimited, personal offer and she was taken to honor it or refund.
Sloppy on both sides to wait two weeks over the pending matter, but he could plead good faith...
