A Plague of sneaky guests.
Well someone has gone and done it, put a very pox on us all.It seems whenever someone posts about guests trying to sneak other guests in,I get hit with a rash of 1 guest bookings.Well, I have the cure for that.I go to my pricing and change the extra guest fee.This weekend I will have 4 people in my home masquerading as 2.Do they not read? Do they not know that I live here?LMAO.I write to them. Thank you for booking my room. However, you booked for only one guest and you are 2 the additional guest fee is 20.00 CASH per night due upon arrival.See you soon.

Oh, guess I can't cancel. Thats like a 40% surcharge per guest. Guess that's my fault, I hasn't experienced a surcharge for two people before. Brutal.

I see a blinking yellow listing and NO super HOST for me in April. Puckers!!!

My low room rate is for one person. We have lots of single business folks and travelers around here that appreciate my low 1 Guest rate. Other hosts charge a higher price whether you are 1 or two. In this area, most hosts have a lower rate for one and the average rate for to. You are not being penalized for booking incorrectly. You are just given a discount. 1 person uses less resources than 2. Also, if you look the next closest place is 60.00 and it is a duplex, not a home. So, I hope you will not hold your "innocent booking mistake" against me. Plus I think I am the only instant book this close to Downtown. Would you like me to adjust your reservation from here and put it on your card, or would you rather pay cash upon arrival?

Shannon change the reservation so they pay card. I had 1 case 2 came instead of 1 I ask them cash twice upon arrival they never paid.

I also had the case of on the spot extra friend on the night once and He did pay his fee cash. But you cant trust everyone so if you know in advance best amend the reservacion asap!

my room is just for one and my guest fee in case someone decide to surprise me is $95 . so I hope they are reading an avoiding a moment like this .

Ciao bella! Look what I received few days ago, a couple wanted to book my big groundfloor apt, I answered in a minute"You know this apt is for 8 people? So,whether you are two or 4- price is the same." Waiting for their response, thinking : isn't that strange to book a big apt and pay 120€ just for two ? They must have seen my other listing- little Studio(50€) or...oh, I realized, Probably they want to sneak some extra guest!? Their new message:" As we planned to stay 25 days, we wanted to invite our parents just for a week or 10 days,maybe. The last week our friends would join us( just for a couple of days). We hope it's ok with you?" I wanted to be cooperative and tried to think of something smart& witty at the same time. So I wrote:" Of course it's ok with me, since people are willing to pay the whole amount.Just to remind you, the price for 1-4 people is 120€, each EXTRA guest pays 20€ per night. So,more ppl in my apt- more money for me!
" Of course, they never got back to me!

Violetta, that was an efficient repellent. If people tell me such occupancy plans in advance, I would count only guests in at the same time and extra for extra sheets - or they wash them. But if you have 8 beds, they will all arrive earlier than planned and linger longer than forseen - as well make them all pay.

Yes Helga, you are so right, I have already experienced situation like this one, that's why I reacted this way - the best way is when people know what to expect, from the beginning. My guests are allowed to bring friends in the apt for lunch or dinner, but if they want to stay (overnight)- they have to pay. No more bookings for four and bringing eight more.

I have amended the reservation. I sent him a note informing him that I made his stay more convenient. I will be leery of this booking for sure. I will wait the 14 days for his review.
