Hello everyone, I am glad to find this forum and in full admiration of the moderators who have set it up. I have a wooden home overlooking the Clyde Estuary and I have a studio here. I have decided to vacate my lovely bedroom and bathroom to let out that side of the house on AirBNB as making art takes up a great deal of time when income is at zero. Being anxious about income does not contribute to the attitude of child-like wonder with which we should be pursuing an art practice. www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/11312163 this is the link to my place. I have listed for the first time as a host although i have stayed at AirBNB places in the past. Now I'm wondering how do potential guests find my listing on the AIRbnb site. I will have a good trawl through your forum to discover the answers. I see PeterBLloyd posted on here. He runs a group in for creatives on Airbnb on Facebook - Stayingwithart. I have joined that. Also I have applied to join The Scottish Community on Facebook. No reply to my "pending" as yet. I also joined Rio Gay Hosts by accident when I was animatedly talking to someone with the Airbnb app. open on my phone! They have welcomed me and I didn't have the heart to say "bye bye". I feel all poised for the "off" but holding my breath has proved near fatal. Well, for now, thank you for the welcome and thank you for all the information you have put at our disposal. Best wishes Eleanor

Eleanor -- you are most welcome here! ANd how gorgeous is your art, from the example I see in your profile avatar as posted here -- really marvelous and delightful to my eyes! Your art is just exactly the kind I like and I am an artist too -- though most of my art is small scale because I don't have a lot of space for it. So I do small watercolors and drawings and some acrylic pieces too.
I know exactly what you mean when you say that
It is a difficult obstacle to art, to have these survival issues involved. It makes me sad to think that we were actually better off, as art creating people, either several thousand years ago, or at the present day in more "primitive" communities and tribes, where humans had much more leisure time than we do now in the civilized world. I am planning to take a vacation later this month and it is taking me an enormous amount of work just to get ready to be able to take 10 days off. I mean all the tasks and chores to do and people to call and messages to send and arrangements to make! It is incredible how much we have to do in the modern world, that our ancestors thousands of years ago didn't have to worry about. NOT progress!
That's funny about joining Rio Gay Hosts by accident. I am sure they were welcoming! Let me know if you need any help finding your way around here -- so far you've done well in getting your first post up and your profile set up.
What a gorgeous seaside home you have there!

Hi from California,
Wow! What a view. You have a beautiful home. I can really empathize with the art vs income :-)
Just a thought but are you sure you want to enable instant book? Good luck Maggie
