Guest in the shower way tooooo long.....I ask guests to limit showers to 5 minutes...

I was cleaning the area next to the restroom today and heard someone in there taking a shower for over 20 minutes. Finally I just shut the water off, and the guest sheepishly emerged a few minutes later. I won't get a bad review in retaliation....this is a Craigslist guest.
What was he doing, singing and dancing in there??

Someone formerly suggested these shower spikes, which apparently inflate if someone tries to shower for over 5 minutes, making it awkward to stay in the shower....to say the least!!

I don't have a clock that is visible from inside the shower -- and generally I am not paying attention to how long guests are in the shower. I dont' mind if they are in there somewhat longer -- but more than 20 or 30 minutes seems excessive when the state of California recommends 5 minutes. I can't think up a medical condition that would require 20 or 30 minute showers, but maybe there are some. I think you both are right, catchafire and Maria Lurdes (Milu) -- the spikes would be too much fun. People would take long showers just for the fun of seeing them activate!!

I once had a long-term tenant, a foreign student who couldn't speak English well. She complained that the hot water kept running out when she was showering. The flat had an immersion heater/boiler with a tank capacity for at least 30 minutes' showering, i.e. plenty even for two people to shower - so I couldn't understand what was happening, especially with the communication problems. It turned out she was taking 45 minute long showers.
