Large drop in views, inquiries and bookings
Have other people experienced a drop in interest. I have lowered my rates and still no action. I was thinking this would be a busy month for bookings. I have been booked almost solidly for many months and all of a sudden inquiries have stopped. Views are also way down.Nothing is any different on my end.

Yes, I just listed a month ago and immediately had several inquiries and 5 bookings but for a week there has been nothing. Zero. Curious

I had a similar situation Kim and first listed in February 2014, had 4 bookings immediately within the first 2 weeks and none since then. For now it's nice to have a quiet reprieve (in a good way)... I'm guess things may pick up soon.

Me too! They say the touristic sector is increasing highly in Portugal. After listing my apart four weeks ago I've got a concentrated amount of requests during the two first weeks. But nothing else since. Curious in fact!

As both an Airbnb host and guest I believe the bookings will continue to increase now. I hope to book 2 entire houses in early July 2014 for the American Independence Day (coordinating for my entire family
holiday. Also Memorial Day holiday weekend is coming up and I expect there will be a lot of travel on that day. It seems like the bookings come in waves Linda. I wouldn't get to anxious. I also don't have any bookings as of late but cannot change my pricing as it's already low. Also I had 3 American visitors and only 1 European visitor this past month.

Both of the middle of my Marches in 2013/14 have been low. Once Spring Break hit it was a lot better. This is in Seattle though but Summer is where the bulk of my bookings happen.

Thanks Chaz. That is helpful. I have been quite busy since July 2013. This ia an extremely sluggish period.

March was 90% occupancy for me, but I don't have anything for April so far. I guess it also depends on your geographical area. I know in Florida I won't have many customers in the summer, plus I noticed a lot more people put their rooms up to rent recently. Word of mouth?

Also wondering if the drop could have anything to do with the instant book thing?? I did not sign up for it....

that could be. hard to say because airbnb does not disclose what factors are weighed in the determination as to where a listing is found within the search queue.

No I signed up for instant booking and I have less bookings now than before had the instant booking functionality.

I think it's price first, reviews second. I check to see where I come up in a general Seattle search and it's like 15th place. I also look at my views to inquiries to bookings and its it seems like 10% of my views turn into inquiries and then 10% of those turn into bookings.
I also think that people don't always see Airbnb has their "go to" for finding a place to stay. I find a lot of people choose it as a "last minute" option especially during periods where tourism is high.
Honestly I think Airbnb reflects the market the same way hotels do. This is a hotel's slow season as well and you might be able to pick up speed by posting your listing on other site but having people book on airbnb because that makes you comfortable.

I tried using Craig. List. I only got one potential guest who wanted to bring his 3 dogs in 1 private room for 3 weeks. Lots of back and forth calls. Not ideal that situation.

Hotels season runs from May-Oct. I had a guest stay recently who worked for the Fairmont group. Airbnb are very much on their radar.
