My listing is suspended
www.airbnb.com/groups/content/content-197491
Hello all. It's been great here on airbnb but my listing has been suspended. Please make sure you read the terms and conditions of the site and do not violate them. I received a call saying that I have violated the terms and conditions of my account without specifics and my account will be suspended by the new year. I have been going back and forth by email but I can't get any answers except it's confirmed to be suspended. Good luck to all hosts

Hi Monique,
Have you called the customer service line?
(phone number hidden) (toll-free)
I've helpful service over the phone.
If you find out why, I'd be curious to know. At the moment, I don't have time scan the fine print of the legal agreement, and Terms and Conditions. But I will definitely check it out when I have a chance.
All the best,
Daniel

When they tell you that you are not providing the unique experience it's because you have more than one listing. It's been happening with more hosts and I'm sorry that it happened to you.

The Airbnb mobile app seems to encourage multiple listings. In fact I've accidentally initiated the process of listing a second space countless times simply by a single tap mishap.

More than 2 or 3 is the issue with all the city council problems. Also it says that the set up is like a hostel, which means your listing is more similar to a hot than the "low to moderate income New Yorker making ends meet by sharing your primary residence. "

So if you list two NYC apartments, you get suspended??? Are people setting up multi profiles to avoid?

The issue is more of WHERE you set up more than one listing. If you are in New York where it's a huge political issue, it's a problem. It becaomes

That didn't work - what I mean is that if you live in New York where Airbnb is the devil, and you set up one listing on 23rd Street, and you set up a second listing on 24th Street, then it's obvious you don't live in both, and therefore are breaking the law.
That's a different scenario then someone who has a three bedroom apartment on 23rd Street and setting up a listing for spare bedroom #1 and spare bedroom #2, as they could be living in Bedroom #3, and therefore not breaking the law.
Basically Airbnb wants to be seen as not encouraging hosts to break the law in New York (or Barcelona, or London, where this is also a huge issue) and I think there might be some obligation to turn over to the city details of hosts who do have multiple listings - I understood from some different posts that Airbnb is doing this proactively - cutting out hosts who don't comply rather then have to turn their info over to the city.

One more note - I'm not sure how successful anyone can be of setting up multiple profiles as it's a pretty stringent verification check from what I can remember.

I see your point, Maria. I recently joined the Airbnb group, "Legalize Sharing in New York!". It's not exactly fair that when a regular person lists a couple of apartments on Airbnb (s)he's called a criminal, but when a millionaire does it with the help of real estate brokers, he's called a real estate developer. Having said that, I only have one listening and it's my only apartment.
