HEre's an example of a scam/fraud being directed at guests: THis host is trying to get the guests to contact him directly, outside of Airbnb, by including his email in a photo on the listing. The photo tells guests to contact him directly to find out if his calendar is up to date -- duh! As if guests couldn't find that out by messaging him through the Airbnb system!! This listing has been reported to Airbnb -- people who do this are generally criminals, setting up fake listings. They try to get the guest to pay them directly offsite, or will send an Airbnb-like email (with Airbnb logo, all very official, makes guests think it is from Airbnb) that tells guests to pay to a certain bank account. Once they do, fake listing and fake host and criminal bank account will all vanish. www.airbnb.com/rooms/9472583 And here's another listing, in a totally different city , with a totally different host, who somehow has the exact same email address and exact same price per night: www.airbnb.com/rooms/9567813
