What happens if you don't want to write a review
My 8 day guests were tidy, friendly and I think good hearted but they were also self absorbed and unthinking. Though she is American they had lived in Japan for nearly 18 years, they were here to secure her dual residency and buy items they can't get in Japan. I was out shopping when my phone alerted me that they were using my computer and my Amazon acount with my credit card and had already purchased a wooden toilet seat. Though we had plenty of time for delivery, had they waited an hour to have asked me if they could use it. I had taken them to three different stores to find this wood toilet seat. They came without a cell phone, computer, or car. I picked them up and drove them and their bikes from a hostel they were in to my house. They insists that they don't need these things, but they continually ask to use mine. I couldn't get my guest account to work on my computer, so I took it with me when I left the house after they made they Amazon purchased. They did give me cash for the seat. But as trusting as I am,I now don't trust their common sense.

Serafina
Please leave a review. These are things other hosts would want to know.
Linda
Yeah, good point!
Queenie & Ted (queenie&ted)
That's not an issue of common sense - that's fraud. I would report them to airbnb and get them out of my house immediately.
Linda
The next Airbnb host called me because they had inappropriately overstepped some requested boundaries with her the first day. She wanted to get my take...
Queenie & Ted
This is why a review is so necessary. Bad behavior needs to be stopped at the first instance otherwise it's just taken right to the next host to deal with as well.
Linda
She told me she tried to switch to her American Amazon account but I'm not seeing that trail (I'm a retired technology teacher)
Linda
I'll write the review, Serafina has a good point.
Keith (keith)
Agree with q&t and seraphina.
These are fundamental entitlement issues and these guests need to understand they shouldn't behave this way.
Review and private feedback to offer more specificity.
Linda
Yeah it's become a big duh! I think I was torn between how sweet they write and how inappropriate. Also, I'm remembering, she told me she never paid for her first/last Airbnb experience... Now I'm questioning everything. A friend of mine called her passive aggressive. But tend not to see the bad in people even when they make me a bit nuts!
Grace
Never paid for her last bnb stay? Suceeded in getting a refund?
Linda
Succeeded in getting a refund. She said the place was filthy.

Here's the review that was written about them.
Clare (clare)
Holy cow, Linda! Do you mean to tell me they used your credit card account at Amazon to buy something??? How could anyone think it was anything other than theft? BTW I have family in Ashland :-)
Linda
We'll if you ever want to be close too family but not too close I'm your gall!
Linda
Yes and no, my card was already attached to my Amazon account. She found it and used it. When I got home there was so cash on the counter. Still didn't feel ok. It's like someone went through my underwear drawer.
Clare (clare)
This story just makes my hair stand on end!! What would have happened if she had charged $1000's on your account? How could you have convinced Amazon or your credit card company that, oh gee, it was my Airbnb guest? Please write an accurate review as I don't want her crossing the threshold of my place!
Linda
By going through my account, her item was set to go to my home...And it did. I just would have returned it.
Clare
And if she had sent it to anywhere else (say as a "gift") what then?
Queenie & Ted (queenie&ted)
On Amazon, every time you add a new address, you are required to put in the whole credit card number, expiration date and CVV.
Linda
Right
Anne
Did this guest hack into your computer? How else could they even log in to your Amazon account?
Linda
No, I opened it for them to use. But it's a different animal to use my Amazon account on my credit card. Trust me I won't let people use my computer again.
Linda
She didn't have a way to connect with any one. So, I let them use it.
Margaret
Linda you were too trusting. It wasnt theft as she gave you the cash but someone else would have stolen. I would mention this in the review its very serious and tell airbnb they are unsuited to stay in a private house. Using someone elses credit card without their permission is not on. Its fraud even if you pay them back. change your amazon password and give noone else access to your computer (as you already said).
This is what I got as a translation of the text you put nothing negative
Thank you for coming .
Conversation also detail smoothly went .
The room Thank you for using very beautiful .

Linda, your orientation, described as " (I) tend not to see the bad in people even when they make me a bit nuts!" is likely to cause you many problems as a host. It's nice to be optimistic, positive, to look on the bright side (I'm like that myself) but when you run a business, you need to be clear eyed and able to draw boundaries and see what is going on. People will often be very nice to you while they steal from you, demand extra services from you, lie to you, etc. If you want to avoid future problems I suggest drawing effective boundaries (eg, not allowing guests to use your personal possessions, including your computer) and learning how to see the bad in people so you aren't blind to what is happening in your own house.
Anne
This is SO true. I appreciate you saying it like it is, Deborah, even if it seems harsh at first. It's difficult to say no to a guest via text (I rent a whole house) I can imagine how tough it is face to face until you get practiced, or burned.
C C
So very true, Deborah and Anne.
Danny
Put a password on your computer and a card on your desk with directions to the nearest internet cafe if they want to communicate.
Linda
OK guys, thank you very much for your time and attention. Please know it's impossible to write and convey every nuance in an email. It is true that I'm fundamentally trusting. But I'm not a pushover. I've owned 3 successful businesses, was in upper management most my lifeand I'm 59 years old. I believe that the trusting people is at the root of my success. I'll also concede I went too far here. Again I believe these folks are fundamentally good. What I get more than anything is that it's time to do the review, to do the Airbnb dance, between kindness and honesty.
Linda
Yes Danny, thank you, my computer has a password, though my guest account is not functioning sense I replaced my hard drive. I informed them about the library computers 1.5 miles away when I took away my laptop and changed most of my passwords right after they made the purchase.
Linda
I have a new phone, my auto correct is all messed up!
Javier and Kym
That's stealing!
