Hi
thanks Deborah for setting this up great job. I am in Dublin. I want to keep my real name out of this as I want to discuss alternative platforms.
I wondered about others experiences. I share my home. I get the majority of my visitors from airbnb. More and more they are just people who want a cheap hotel room not into sharing your home but they are mostly nice. I get a booking or two a month from Wimdu. Lovely people like old airbnbers into sharing. Wimdu pay on time. The roomorama people are fine but they are slow (very ) to pay.
Homestay I get a lot of poor quality enquiries from. I took one booking ever. It was fine and the guy was nice
flatshare asked me to sign up but I get no bookings or enquiries

HI ApricotNelli -- welcome! Yes, it's fine not to use your real name here, or your photo. If you want the privacy that affords, you are welcome to do it that way. Also since your membership here is not linked to any listings you have on any given platform, that too will afford you more privacy than you will have on the Airbnb community groups. I think this may turn out to be more important of a difference than it may have been in the past, since I have reason to believe that the new Airbnb community groups will offer less privacy than did the old groups. In the sense that everything you post there will be easier to find, by not only hosts but guests too -- potentially even your own guests could see what you post on the new Airbnb host community groups. I noticed you did find the thread in the board below on alternate short term rental platforms, those other than Airbnb. In case others read this introduction here and want to find that, I will post a link to that thread here: globalhosting.freeforums.net/thread/712/short-term-rental-vacation-platforms
