This is an interesting story:
It lays out many of the challenges faced by STRS in the pandemic.
The article says that in 2019 Airbnb already faced losses. In one month, Airbnb lost 42% of its value.
The two "hosts" interviewed who said they lost "thousands", Liam and Travers, look like twenty-something individuals, not the type of people you'd expect to own rental property. Rental property owners, particularly those owning many properties, are rarely in their 20's and 30's. So the fact that this news article uses these kinds of people to represent "hosts", exacerbates the problem of "hosts" looking like legitimate property owners, and conveys the "host" as someone exploiting the housing market through rental arbitrage.
