Airbnb beginning massive push into China, says CEO
"Booming vacation rental startup Airbnb is making a massive push into China after inking a $1.5 billion deal with investor groups Sequoia China and China Broadband Capital, the company’s CEO said this week.
Airbnb saw the number of Chinese guests booking rooms through the service skyrocket 700 percent last year, which quickly put it at the front of the firm’s fastest growing markets.
CEO Brian Chesky told Bloomberg News that with tourism increasing by leaps and bounds in China, now is the perfect time for Airbnb to start building its company infrastructure there. As part of that move, Airbnb said its actively hunting for its new head of Chinese operations."

My two cents: Hmmm, maybe I should revise my prediction for the location of Airbnb Open 2016 to Shanghai. :-)
Keith:
My Chinese guests have been the ones with the most unreasonable expectations so far.... they want the lowest price and the most for the money. Hopefully as they market in China they can do so in a way which educates Chinese travelers and sets an appropriate expectation.
Some of my best customers were from Singapore, Japan, Australia and France. Whenever an Australian books I know it's going to be a pleasure hosting them. I look forward to the same emotion as Chinese visitors book more frequently.
Alex:
Keith, I have to agree with you 100 percent. I have literally suffered thru several bookings over recent months as foreign visitors from China came to stay in our home for a week. The booking typically comes via an adult child living in the Bay Area who is looking to bring his family over for a college graduation, etc.
My recent guests arrived here from China (by way of their son's home in L.A.) complete with electric rice cooker & UPS boxes full of imported food products). I arrived home one day to see newly washed UNDERWEAR draped over the back of the couch in the living room window for all passersby to view! They left our place in utter shambles, even used toilet paper on the paper towel holder when they ran out of paper towels. They had no problem leaving all their designer shopping bags & other trash overflowing our garbage cans upon their departure.
