Marin county in the SF Bay Area passed a law for short term rentals in unincorporated areas of the county. www.marinij.com/article/NO/20180807/NEWS/180809855But many hosts are not happy with the law, particularly the part requiring hosts to notify their neighbors that they are doing short term rentals. As one host put it, Exactly. In what other business in the world do people have to notify their neighbors, before running a business in their own private home? I can't think of any. And what does this accomplish, other than to suggest to neighbors that they should be looking for problems? Many cities are requiring such notification, but it doesn't make much sense to me. Noise is noise. IF there are noise problems, it doesn't matter if they issue from short term renters or long term renters, the problem should be dealt with in the same way. Ditto parking issues or any other issue with neigbhors.
