Treehouse listing may not meet city laws about residential units...www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2017/05/05/beaches-treehouse-a-hit-on-airbnbfor-rent-temporarily-a-charming-treehouse-bunkie.html The family who originally built this treehouse for their kids, made it an Airbnb listing and it was quite popular, being rented about half each month during summer. Guests liked it. But there are concerns that it may not meet the city's requirements for a space that sees residential use. What's your view on this? Should exceptions be made to the residential use laws, so that short term rentals need not meet the same requirements as long term ones, or should both have the same standards? Treehouses are popular on Airbnb -- in fact some of the most popular listings in the whole world are treehouses. So it seems unfortunate to deprive both guests and the hosting family of the opportunity to come to a mutal agreement that both sides value.
