They still will allow SRT if owner lives at the premises. Hopefully that helps the hosts that need supplemental income.

Do you guys know if the NY law allows for SFR to be STR-ed as an entire unit?

Here is the actual bill, if anyone wants to track its progress: www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2015/s6340The bill uses the term "dwelling units" in Class A multiple dwellings. I believe this indicates whole apartment rentals without a host living there. Otherwise they might say dwelling units or any single room in that unit. No one will know for sure until more clarification is given.
