I believe I heard that Wimdu was suing the Berlin Government over their ban on STR's. And I read somewhere that it was expected that the government would lose! Interesting.....can't wait to see what happens....

The newspaper article is simplifying - can'tt say if the plaintifs argument was better. what is described here, is contradictory. They appeal against the fact that they need a permit because the authorities had the basic facts wrong, that apartments are taken from the market by renting short term. Then they argument that the law limits their options to exercise a profession freely. And the law forgot to limit use of apartments for medical or law cabinets.
It's strange to argument with free exercise of a profession and in the same time argument against it being a (regulated) profession. If it's a profession, it's up to authorities to define in which form and with what certificates and permits it can be exercised. And then compare it with lawyers and doctors, the most regulated professions.
I hope the next one has better arguments to limit the law.
