Potential scam?
I had an email Enquiring about my listing from a member listed since July 2014 on the site. The guy said he had no access to the site as he was travelling and wanted to email me directly. I told him the site blocks emails but he said he wanted to rent through airbnb for 1 month and only needed to ask a few questions about my property. He then emailed me and asked if my property was listed twice and could I check a link he was sending to see. I said it was listed only once and he again asked me to check and sent a link. The link appeared to be to the airbnb login page. It requested my login name and password so I said no and told him to use email via airbnb as he clearly had Internet access to get his emails. He said ok and that's the end of it but this must be a fake page to get my password. Has anyone experienced similar? He had no reviews and gave no description of himself. I tried to alert airbnb but the help links aren't working. Please be on your guard. Emma

Good call Emma - you can also click the flag in the message and on his profile to report it (if those are working). I haven't but another host said they recently received a text with a phishing link. Thanks for letting us know!

No flags unfortunately so I'm trying to get the message out there in the meantime! Thanks.

That's definitely a scam if they are asking for login info.

This is definitely a scam, most likely an effort to take control of your account in order to change the payee information in an attempt to steal your airbnb income. The scammer probably attempted to phish hundreds if not thousands of airbnb hosts this way. Hopefully they were not successful.

definitely a scam. never give out your username and password to anyone. And only communicate via airbnb link. That is my rule.

If they do not have an account, how did they find you on Airbnb?
