FULLNAME REVEALED for every inquiry on the mobile app
I find this quite disappointing specially because I believe it crash with one of core features of the site that "was" to keep data private until a reservation is made. On the last couple of weeks I noted that the fullname is shared to both parties when messaging through the mobile app. So your "not still guest" just need to say "Hi" to get your name and surname. I though that this was a technical error but I'm not sure what to think now. Your thoughts?

Have you reported this as a bug to Airbnb to get their take on this issue?

No I haven´t. This in not affecting just my account but to all of us (you too) so it's kind weird to think they don´t know about it. Again I'm not sure what to think because in the desktop version it looks as usual but not on mobile. Have they give up with keeping private personal data? Is this a bug? Is this a test for a new feature? .. Whatever it is, it looks quite bad for me.

I see all full names too including enquiries. I don't have an issue with it though.

I noticed that before too, which is why a while back I "modified" where my last name appears on my account so that only those who actually book would get my last name.
I think it's best for all of us to be proactive to protect our own safety and our own interests and not depend on Airbnb to do all of that for us.

I've noticed that I've gotten last name on inquiries and found it helpful to thus do some web research on potential guest. I don't mind if they get my name as I'm already public with my own site and others. I understand those sharing their own homes could find it a privacy issue but I like it as it gives me more data to locate good/bad info on guest.

I also though that we were getting the last names as a new feature of the app. I was happy, as could get more info on potential guests. deborah, how can do we 'modify' our information (our last names) at our end...without looking somewhat sketchy?

The good side of the story is that you can make more research on the social web, but for my concern anyone that just "sniff" to your account can get the full name of the man that owns that amazing house. Besides, I don´t like the fact that Airbnb tell its users that your data is private but then they do something else. If they want to change how they handle our data then it will be more ethical to say it so "Hey, we have changed things and now anyone can get your fullname from the app. Thanks!". Going to My Profile and under the surname field you can still read "This is only shared once you have a confirmed booking with another Airbnb user."

You're right Florencia, it isn't appropriate for AIrbnb to be sharing info with everyone who inquires ,which they say they will only reveal with a confirmed booking.
Here are some things that can happen if those who merely inquire with you have your full name:
(1) They can do a google search of you as a property owner and find your exact address -- something by the way which Airbnb also keeps private until a booking is made. So as we can see, by leaking one bit of our private information they are leaking other private information. Now, armed with our address, anyone can just come to our home and say they have a booking with us, or ring our bell and insist on staying with us, harass us or vandalize our property for declining them, or cause other problems.
(2) ARmed with your full name as a property owner, any nation, state, or local municipal government can find your property address, and in many areas, hosts are trying to "fly low" while their government works on addressing the short term rental issue, the legality of which may be currently ambiguous in their area.
(3) Armed with your full name, anyone can then find your Facebook or other social media account, or other info about you online, and all of this in connection with potentially knowing your exact address, and all without booking a reservation with you. Potentially this is someone you feel uncomfortable about in their inquiry, and want nothing more to do with.

A fresh update on this. I have mail Customer support and seem they are aware about it but they confirmed me is not a feature. It is indeed a bug and they are working to fix it. When I first saw this I though this was bug as Airbnb is one of the biggest looser with this encouraging many guests to bypass the platform reaching out hosts through other channels. But after a few weeks I wasn´t sure what to think. I mean this is the kind of issues (private data leaks) that need to be solve in hours (a day at maximum) so it set an alarm on me after a few days without seeing a fix. Hope they solve this soon.
