Airbnb does new research survey...they are considering adding a "Suite" category!!! YEAAA! THis has long been something hosts have wanted. I got the research survey today and Airbnb basically asked if they thought we wanted "guest suite" as a category and then "guest room" and "guest room -- separate entrance" and they also listed a few other possible new categories including "vacation home " and "apartment" . this to improve on the measly 3 types of categories they have now. I explained that "suite" is badly needed and suggested they also have a tick box where hosts can indicate what is in the suite --eg how many bedrooms, is there a private living space eg living room, is there a private kitchen or private bath, is there a private entrance.I posted about this on the Community Center on Host Circle: community.airbnb.com/t5/Host-Circle/Airbnb-may-add-new-quot-suite-quot-category/td-p/69809

Deborah, thank you for this good news. Years ago at an Airbnb meeting I asked for at least a filter for Private Bath-something I wanted for myself as a guest. Really ponderous to view all the listings to clarify that, usually in the narrative. They don't even have that for rooms. I love your suite idea with the options to be selected. (If they take your suggestion...) The Suite is an improvement indeed and minimizes at least a bit the implication that "entire home/ apts" are always whole/separate units.
