Watch out for Lise Winicki!
To ALL Hosts and Hostess, I was a victim to a fraud by Lise Winicki. I don't know exactly who this woman is, but she some how ended up being our unwanted guest of airbnb without every actually booking it. If this women (who had hardly any info on her profile, but was a member since 2013) ever request to see your listing, do not let her come to your property (unless you want to do all of us a favor and have proper authority waiting for her). At first meeting she is quite charming so it'll take you few days to realize that her check bounced and as her excuses get too much and her lies catch up to eventually and you'll have to literally lock her out. But don't fall to her lie of "believe me I'll get u the money tomorrow" bit. If anyone else had experience with this character I would love to hear it. And c if we can catch her and get even

So she came around and made you an offer and she said, 'Let's not worry about that whole Airbnb stuff, I'll pay you direct.' And you went along with it.
I'm not sure any other hosts in this group would play that game and bypass the Airbnb system. It sort of works.

I never accepted and would not let someone stay in that manner, but we asked a friend to show her the place (she asked if she could come by and see our space via airbnb). She has been asking to see it in past to see our place but it's been unavailable and even this time due to small repairs space was not available and next thing I knew she sweet talked my friend (and can't really blame him as usually he shows and gives keys to guest) in to taking the check and keeping the keys since she did found our place via airbnb and our friend didn't suspect her of being a pathological lier. Scott's point is the red flag is she found you through Airbnb yet you went around them to get paid and then are surprised she was dishonest. I am sorry for your trouble but this story illustrates why a person should play by the rules. A warning about this particular woman is unnecessary.

I agree Rosa & Esfandiar went out side of the Airbnb "trust" factor and accepted or their friend accepted money and they got ripped off. I did google the person's name interesting.....

The other host comments seem a bit harsh. It looks to me as though Rosa and Esfandiar had a miscommunication with their representative, who may have thought the reservation was legit. R & S, be sure to communicate well with your rep. I say, thanks for the warning!

It is never legit when the guest is paying by check.

Christina, of course it's not. I mean that perhaps whoever handled the guest's arrival may not have known how money is handled via Airbnb. It seems , more than anything, that these hosts didn't communicate well with their representative.

I am not trying to attack Rosa and Esfandiar. It could have been miscommunication, but I don't think it is right to slander the woman who booked and put her full name on this site. They took a risk of lack of payment when they went outside Airbnb. They should have told their person who deals with this in person to reject the check and ask her to book through Airbnb instead of allowing it. I don't see it as miscommunication from the limited information provided. Someone who was constantly contacting them to stay showed up and their caretaker didn't contact the hosts? If I am not home for guests, my kids know the schedule this does not happen. Once an aggressive couple showed up, deducing the location because they were locals, and asked my younger daughter to see the room. She conferred with my older daughter and they texted me to ask if there were any guests arriving that day. I told them no, and they made sure the unwanted guests left. If my teenagers can do that, I am sure a grown man should have been able to handle it.

I did and i did see her history before i commented. As it seems she is well-known in the area, and she was bugging the hosts for awhile (red flag there), i am surprised the hosts didn't know. As a rule, i would not put a host's or guest's full name or identification on a public forum.

I do feel for the hosts but the experience does exemplify why it is best not to use Airbnb to find but not book.

The woman is a professional scam artist. Whatever she does and how she does it, she's clearly an expert so thanks for the warning! You'd think she'd use a new name by now, but it probably works like the Nigerian scam - they aim for people who've never heard of such a thing...

Hello My Decent Los Angeles Community,
Lise Winicki is never under any circumstance to be trusted.. she has written me 3 bad Checks and as of Now owes me $5000.00. I am completely left in the wind by this creature and I had to have her removed with a witness present from the property. I wish I had looked into this early but I never thought it would come to this... I'm broke and saddenied and now my living situation is in jeopardy due to this sociopath Named Lise Winicki.
i received a message from Lise on the airbnb website on February 20, 2015 asking to stay for a week maybe 2. I was planning a trip on 2-24-2015 to the high desert and have booked plenty of people over this last year through the airbnb so I thought everything was going to be business as usual.. She wasn't sure how long she was going to stay so agreed to pay me by check and then to pay me again on my return if she found out she was to be staying longer. [continued below]....
Report Attachments:
...... I agreed and deposited the check on 2-22-2015. It bounced. she told me a story about her card being stolen and wrote another.. It bounced later that week. I came back from the high desert and it didn't really occur to me that she could be a scam artist. She pleaded with me that she wanted to stay longer and that the money was just late due to her having her card stolen and account being thrown into jeopardy. I chose to understand that these things happen and allowed her to write me a larger amount including the fees for the bounced checks... That was really stupid of me.. I left for an annual gathering of friends to San Fransico for about 10 days and while I was gone that check bounced... We are now 3 checks bounced and $3000.00 owed..
i returned home home with a "what the h*** is going on here" feeling. She assured me that she could have her father ---------Alain Winicki- (alleged phone number)- 011 590 690 63 20 31------- wire transfer me the money overnight and she was so " sorry to put me in such a ridiculous and crazy situation!!" he never returned my calls... In fact I don't speak French and so I don't even know if that is his actual number. She dragged it out and promised the transfer would come day after day after weekend after another day until I had to get a witness and go over to the apartment and make her sign a personal agreement for money owed as well as go with me to get it notarized.
as as far as I know, the money never came. BUT--- she may have recieved money from someone and just decided not to pay me...
I work with people professionally every day and know how hard it can be out there in the big scary world so I have a huge heart. As of the last check for $3000.00 that I deposited and then used some of the non existent funds my bank account went into negative avaiability.
I don't drive. I use UBER cars to get to and from my clients houses. So since my return from San Fransico I have been stuck. Unable to work due to my negative bank account. I may lose clients over it.. Bottom line is I have a notarized agreement. I've been back and forth all over town to banks and western unions and to the apartment with witnesses present and I as of today ---March 30, 2015 ---had to go to the courthouse and file a claim against her. I had another party serve her the summons and then with a witness had to ask her to leave the apartment.
Upon closer inspection of me unit I discovered that not only had she gone through my things in the closet but that she was actually using my personal bathroom supplies and eaten EVERYTHING in the house, but that she left the place rearranged and messy.. She used all of my cleaning products somehow but nothing is clean.. I don't understand. My mother who came as my witness says that she saw her smiling and laughing while she was on the phone with her lawyer...
i went beyond normal consideration ration and patience and now she is due in court on the 13th of May 2015..
my only thought is... What the h*** am I going to do in the meantime...?
DO NOT TRUST THIS CREATURE- I CAN NOT EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE THE MIND BOGGLING STORIES AND EXCUSES THAT SHE WILL TRY TO SELL YOU. ITS DISGUSTING THE WAY SHE HAD TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF US."
