Hi everyone. I need advice
I got an inquiry from a 16 year old that she wants to come with her friends (16 as well) at my villa. She has been asking if they can come without adults and when i said no, she said that her mum is coming as well. I don't believe that and i would like to decline the inquiry. How do i do that without being nasty or bad?
Thanks!!

AirBnB has 2 policies which address this:
1) no third party bookings -- the person staying should be the person who booked (or their spouse if the account is for a couple, most likely).
2) you cannot have your own account if you're under 18.
together these imply that a guest traveling alone can't be under 18 since they can't have their own account.
to decline, simply decline. you dont have to say anything or you can say "This request isn't suitable for my listing".
You can also ask that she have her mother request the booking from her account so you can verify that she'll actually be there.
I've had guests under 18 before, and they were perfectly well behaved and great guests.
Other hosts have had issues (just as they've had with people over 18).
My personal opinion is that age doesn't affect your character. A 16 year old can be very responsible and considerate. A 50 year old can be selfish and inconsiderate and horrible.
Groups (of any ages) can sometimes mean that decision's aren't always the best ones--if you know what they're there for and feel ok having them then take the booking if not, then you can simply refer them to the airbnb policies and decline.

On top of Scott's excellent advice, I would add that you're going to have to say no a lot in the Airbnb business. The squeamishness & hesitation to say no when you need to will prove very costly indeed. Even though any age person can be a good person (we were all 16 once), in this case, it is just a teen seeing what they can get away with. If the mom is coming, why isn't she making the res? Of course the answer is obvious. My question to you is, how many red flags do you need? (Not you personally, but other readers, let's say.) People with bad intentions--luckily--often telegraph this. Be sure you're not the poor host who didn't pick up on the clues--and were left holding the bag!!

Thank you so much guys. Your answeres are extremely helpful. I agree that age doesn't matter but if this girl has already changed her story twice during our conversation it doesn't show good character. Thanks again I appreciate your time and answers!

You did the right thing, and there's nothing nasty or bad about it. I also recommend reporting this guest to Airbnb. Her profile should be removed from the site due to her being underage.

Regardless if Airbnb rules, I would not feel comfortable accepting anyone under 18 on their own. In the UK they are still a child and this could have serious implications.

Thanks Fiona, yea because in case of any problems you cannot "chase" them legally right?
