Once again, it appears that we have the sort of case I've written about in this blog ---- globalhosting.freeforums.net/thread/1277/person-creates-regulations-city-blogWhere all it takes is ONE case of an unhappy neighbor to get a town or city to consider banning Airbnb rentals. See here for the story of the town of Hurley, New York: www.dailyfreeman.com/article/DF/20160125/NEWS/160129776"Efforts to write a local law to control Airbnb rentals got support from the neighbor of a property owner who has been renting a house through the online short- term private bed-and-breakfast service. The complaints were raised during a Town Board meeting on Monday night. Resident Annie Patrick said there have consistent nuisance problems from people renting a Maverick Road house. “Our next door neighbor ... (has) run an Airbnb for approximately two years now,” she said. “Our driveway is only 15 to 20 feet away from hers, and Airbnbers are often coming and going at all hours of the night, disturbing our sleep.” Patrick added that there was also an incident requiring the West Hurley Fire Department’s assistance when renters left a camp fire unattended. Patrick said the property owner’s husband was asked to have tenants be considerate, but “he became very argumentative, belligerent and he literally ended up by saying, ‘If you don’t like it, you can move.’”
