This is still at the top of the group page
"Introducing the Community Centre We're excited to announce that Airbnb has launched a new and improved Community Centre. Groups will remain accessible until February 25th."
These people could not organise their way out of a wet paper bag.

I just got this email from Diana Wong, thanking us Launch Pad Hosts:
Hi Deborah
I want to thank you for all the ways you’ve helped us get the Community Center off the ground and into the hands of hosts around the world. Your feedback and collaboration in the past 7 months have been incredibly valuable, and your perspective will continue to guide the improvements we make in the months ahead.
Now it’s time for us to let you enjoy the Community Center as a contributor and close the Launchpad phase of work. But we want to offer you a few rewards as a way of saying thanks:
A sneak peek at the new updates launching in May, during a private webinar just for Launchpad hosts. On April 8 at 10:00AM PST, dial in to learn about the newest features and share your thoughts—you don’t need to register in advance. You’ll get an early preview of the new Host Voice feedback tool that we’ll be launching to the community in the months ahead. We’ll reach out in August to get your feedback about how we can continue to improve the Community Center to suit your needs. We’d like to give you a free all-access ticket to Airbnb Open 2016, which will be in November in downtown Los Angeles. I’ll follow up with more details once ticket sales are live.
I’d also like to send you a few Bélo gifts, so please respond with your mailing address.
Groups will be closing on May 31st, which is also when we’ll close the Launchpad board. I hope you’ll encourage fellow hosts to join you in discussions throughout the Community Center. Active hosts like you who continuously help others, share ideas, and contribute to the conversation will get special rewards year-round.
Thanks for all of your input and creativity,
Diana Wong, Community Center Program Manager

Small question about the profiles for this forum - I was surprised to see a binary gender identification question (without an "other" or "decline to state") and then note that the picture associated with a post carries a small male or female symbol. Given the cultural sensitivity of this group, it seems incongruent. Just a note, love that you have created a new space for us!

Hi bridgetandmark -- yes, thanks for pointing that out! I have news about that. The basic template of this forum is something that I can't change --- it comes "as is" from the maker of the templates, ProBoards, and there is not an option to change the gender specifications at this point. HOWEVER -- I am pleased to say that this will be changing! ProBoards has notified the forum owners that they will be rolling out updates to the forum templates which allow a third gender category of "other/prefer not to state." Admittedly it would be nice to have even MORE gender categories than that, but at least this additional one will help those of us who feel that it's not fun to be forced into one of the two traditional "sorting bins"!!

I sent an email today to Jonny Styron and Diana Wong at Airbnb, asking when they expect the groups to close on the mobile app, pointing out the awkwardness of having them still open there. As well as the emotional need that we have for a final closure. I will post here if I hear from them.

Awkwardly, 6 days after groups closure, the groups are still open on the mobile app....I contacted Diana Wong at Airbnb to find out when they would be closed. She stated that the groups will be closed on the mobile app next Monday or Tuesday, that they couldn't do it all at once. This closure by parts is awkward and no doubt leads to confusion for many -- it also leads to emotional turbulence for us who have had so much energy invested in the old groups! We need a final closure in order to process this all emotionally.
Here's the email message I got from Diana today:

It's disrespectful and signals that the groups or any forum has not importance to airbnb. A benefit if people work for free, but they are not even due respect. They ways airbnb treats the forums has changed my opinion of them considerably. I bet, none of the people in charge uses a forum fo anything and none of them feels any professional obligation to read the airbnb ones. I hate fashion and female magazines and the like, even clothes, but when I sold clothes, I read them out of professional conscience. When I sold machines, I read the industry publications.
Not so for airbnb managers. Nobody seems to have a broader view there.
