This is a 2-part question, really.
First - does anybody have any experience to indicate how long the anonymized email addresses assigned to guests and provided to hosts on the reservation confirmation continues to work after guests check-out? I'd like to send my guests a greeting and wanted to include a photo attachment to remind them of their visit to my area, so sending via Airbnb messaging won't work.
Second - I am thinking ahead (!) and probably will send the greeting out for Thanksgiving (offering my gratitude for their patronage in my first year of hosting). I understand that Airbnb offered some sort of holiday e-card for hosts to opt into in the past. Was this for Christmas? New Years? Anybody have any insight on that? I believe I'd prefer to do my own thing as described above, but would like to know more about what was offered in the past as a reference point.

Hi Joyce, I'm very interested in this question too. I plan on sending out a New Year's message to my favorite guests to thank them for their patronage and to offer a discounted rate (from whatever I'm charging at the time) for a return visit.

THe anonymized email addresses no longer work after the guest checks out. THey are created only for use during the time from guest first booking, to the time the reservation ends. SO if you want to contact guest after that, you need to have their direct email address ...if not, all you can do is send via Airbnb messaging, and as we know, that scrubs out all attachments so that no "cards" can be sent.
In 2013, Airbnb had holiday e-cards that it made avaialable for hosts to send out to guests -- but they didn't do it again in 2014.

That's ok. I was going to go through the Airbnb website anyway.

Thanks for the info, Deborah. Although I'm disappointed in that answer, I will work with it. A few of my guests exchanged email addresses with me. The others will get no image of Yellowstone with their greeting (and may never see it, anyway, if they don't have email notifications of new messages enabled - I wish that were mandatory!).
