Hi All, I have a booking for 23 Oct-31 Oct. We've had severe hail and rain which ended up taking a leak in the bathroom (sorry, I couldn't resist!). My other listing, thankfully is available and dry! The upgrade won't be charged (of course) but do I need to change the info because of the insurance through Airbnb? Should I contact the guests? It's an upgrade, as I said, so I don't forsee an issue. Is there one? Thanks, Rosanne

HI Roseanne You have posted your question as a reply to a thread about overpayment scams, so it is not likely to be found by others. I will move your question to New Host Forum as a new thread so that it is more likely someone will see your question. When posting on here, to create a new "thread" , go to any group/board, and click on the black "Create thread" button. NOte that if you click on someone else's thread you will be replying to a thread, not creating your own new thread and new question.

I would definitely tell the guest that they will be staying in a different listing. I don't know if there is an insurance issue -- that would be a question for Airbnb customer service. My guess would be that insurance will still cover you regardless which listing the guest stays in, as long as it is yours not someone else's

my understanding of legal stuff here is that there could be an issue if you do not formally move the guest - with an alteration request. Better safe than sorry. Also the word upgrade is music to most ears

I was wondering if I could move people between rooms with an Alteration request, so please let us know @rosanne if you manage to do it.
I have two rooms with zip and link beds, but couples always book into the one with a picture of it made up as a double and two people into the one with a picture of twin beds. If only one room is booked, I'd rather it was the slightly better one without the noisy Saniflo toilet, so would like to be able to switch people across without messing up my calendar.

I have moved a guest between rooms with an alteration request, but I don't think that is possible to do after the reservation starts....I can't recall, maybe it is....you can always try filling out the alteration form and see if the system accepts the changes you propose.
