I think, as you implied in an earlier post, Airbnb was really embarrassed by the hole in the ground listing and took it and my post down. Hope they're not mad at me..

Yes, fionad, we are in the process of setting up approval required for registration, so that the forum would be for hosts only. This is being done through Home Sharers Organization, which Peter Kwan founded, but he has been very busy fighting Prop F in SF, so this has been delayed. Currently, the only place that this forum has been advertised, is on the existing AIrbnb groups which are for hosts only. Also, as an independent forum site, far fewer people will find this forum, than will find the new Airbnb groups, since any Airbnb user will be able to find those groups, in fact, will be directed towards and funneled towards those groups. Even without that funneling occurring, we currently get about 20 new members to New HOsts Forum per day, and ANecdotes group, which is the one most users see first, grows by probably 50 members a day. I would expect that those numbers would double or triple or even quadruple once Airbnb starts funneling people into the groups. So people are pouring into the existing AIrbnb groups and the future Airbnb groups, but this independent forum will be not as easy to find. THe other thing to consider here, on this forum, as regards privacy, is that forum members here can choose the degree of privacy they want. No one is required to use their real name or a photo of themselves here -- though we encourage that. Also, your listings are not linked with your account on this forum unless you choose to post your listing on your account. THis is very different from the setup on Airbnb groups, where it is not possible to post in a way that is separate from your listings. Whatever you post on those groups is inextricably linked to your listings. So there are privacy choices here that you would not have in using either the existing Airbnb groups, or even more, the new AIrbnb groups. The new Airbnb groups are set up in such a way that everything you post is searchable -- someone could search to try to find everything you have ever posted -- and all is linked to your listings.

Clare -- well it's understandable that Airbnb would take down a listing that was meant as a joke, but it doesn't make sense that they would take down your post, which only pointed to that joke -- particularly if the listing was deactivated, that is sufficient. For them to take down your post was not necessary and seems like overreach.
