Cathryn shared: US News Article about NYC and enforcement of Short-Term Rentals Disturbing trend regarding harder enforcement in NYC against STR hosts:tinyurl.com/ne5lnjdHope SF Planning Dept., et.al. don't get any bright ideas about implementing something similar here in SF! Deborah I find the level of government intrusion in NYC pretty disturbing. THe government is actually going knocking on people's doors and demanding to know if the person who answers, is someone who lives there. There is talk of setting up surveillance systems to see who comes and goes. THis Big Brother issue needs to be addressed by all who are concerned about government spying and intrusion. G: Just for the record, I stayed in an apartment in Queens, NY last year. The listing was managed by a listing agent who did not live in that apartment. Neither does the owner or renter lived in it. Both the bedrooms were booked for short term rental. Now in New York, short term rental is only allowed when the host is present. But this New York law is not being practiced by these NY hosts. So IMHO, they should be investigated.
