I'm really glad, and probably so are many of you, that Airbnb finally figured out that we hosts do not want someone to be able to instant book our listing for a 2 month stay! Or a 6 month stay for that matter. Some hosts, probably not many but some, do offer long stays. But particularly given the laws on rental property and tenant's rights, given the potential problems with squatters or bad tenants, it would be insanity to allow people to "instant book" a 2 or 3 month long stay. But then the problem is...if you allow people to instant book short stays, such as a 2 to 5 day stay, what can you do if you ALSO want to offer longer stays? You'd have to have two separate listings for the same property, one for IB, one not on IB for the longer stays. Well Airbnb has come up with a way for you to effectively shut off IB and require that guests submit a reservation request and get manual approval, for stays over 14 days long. Glad they did something that benefits hosts, after a lot of changes on their platform that do not benefit hosts.
