It's not clear why they would allow this, and as one commenter on this thread states:

Are you aware that a Judge has formed the opinion that Airbnb Terms of service in her opinion are unconstitutional?
And if you read the TOS its not hard to see why she has formed this opinion.
And as indicated in this thread, a good way to protect yourself when this fake name business occurs, is to require that all guests show their government ID when they check in.
