And, another article indicating that media and police have read Reenu's posts on the host Facebook groups --- she posted on several groups. www.sfchronicle.com/crime/article/Woman-charged-with-staging-home-invasion-to-scare-14400541.php?psid=kgkNnSome thoughts on that: (1) the article does not show adequate awareness that these FB host groups were oriented to short term rentals, not long term tenants, and that applicable laws for these two types of renters, particularly as regards eviction, are very different. "Innkeeper laws" and hotel laws apply to short term rentals, while "landlord-tenant laws" apply to tenancies. People on short term rental groups are likely to be more informed about those kinds of rentals, and used to talking about those, than about long term rentals or standard tenancies. (2)She was apparently seeking help with what turned out to be a long term rental, standard tenant, in groups that are primarily oriented to short term rentals. So she was asking for advice in the wrong place. And the advice given was thus not applicable to her situation. (3) She was also apparently misrepresenting her own situation, perhaps so that she could get the kind of advice she wanted to hear. (4) Facebook groups are not places to seek legal advice, and are not presented as such. In particular, host FB groups have a lot of venting going on and it's not uncommon to see people reply with responses not so much oriented as being practically useful, as being offered to help someone get a laugh and indulge in a nice soothing fantasy about a difficult situation

More information in this article: mv-voice.com/news/2019/08/30/how-a-scheme-to-evict-tenants-backfired-horriblyI feel really sad for the housecleaner. Terrible situation, all around. Read the comments. I hadn't read about this til now, but one of the plans was that the landlord was making was to let her co-conspirators move into the unit and live there for free. That doesn't seem such a great plan. What would she do if they then squatted in the place?
