Please keep in mind as well, that the laws pertaining to short term stay guests, or "transient occupants", are often quite dramatically different from those pertaining to tenants and long term rentals. Self-help evictions such as locking the STR guest out are often permissible with short term stay guests, but are not allowed and are quite illegal with standard tenants. So be sure you know what you are dealing with before you take action.
