This article may (inadvertently) illustrate a danger of "the slippery slope" in the ardor over applying the non-discrimination policy on Airbnb. gizmodo.com/airbnb-doesnt-want-extremists-on-its-platform-but-how-h-1833844785It argues that Airbnb isn't trying hard enough to ban "white nationalists" from its platform. It argues that the Southern Poverty Law Center has designated some groups as "hate groups" and Airbnb should ban them. But we should ask....is SPLC's viewpoint considered law? Are they infallible in their pronouncements, like the pope? I think we have to ask, who decides what is "hate speech"? Some (typically this occurs on college campuses, but it is spreading) have argued, that in essence "hate speech" is any opinion with which they disagree, because people expressing views that they disagree with causes them stress...which is hard...it's like PTSD...therefore it threatens their life when people disagree with them. Really. As a result, they demand "safe spaces" where they will be free from hearing other opinions. I would say that people with views like this are extremists ... but such claims about the danger of different opinions is going mainstream in some areas. It's a slippery slope...starting to look for whom to ban because you don't like their opinions.
